Reply with quote | #1 | I like the smaller shows in the Midwest farm country. I grew up as a flag boy and go-fer for a crop dusting operation in the southwest. I picked out my career at the age of 16.
It is pretty easy to figure why I like to talk about the subject of barnstorming. Past and present.

Reply with quote | #2 | Some of the best shows I have seen over the years have been the smaller venues ( meaning to me not military bases with TB or Ba to which crowds can be over 100,000+ ) Taking in our first show in two weeks in Columbus Ga. " Thunder In The Valley " Nice little show with the best food vender's I have seen yet! For me, smoked turkey leg with a soda watching the warbirds start the show off with fly by's! Cant wait!!! |

Hey snaproll! Glad to see people on board with the same interests as mine. It is great you are going to the Columbus show. I will not be there as I am finishing up a wing recover. My wingwalker Jenny will be there performing with her dad Bob Essell. Also say hello to my long time friend Charlie Kulp if you talk to him. It is so good to see he is still flying shows. Our spring dress rehearsal will be again at Sun n Fun at Lakeland on April 22 and 23rd. Hope to see you there. Walt __________________ Walt Pierce

Hi Snaproll, I'm looking forward to the Columbus show next weekend! Glad to hear they have good food - that's one of the most important features of a show - at least as far as I'm concerned I can work up quite an appetite! Jenny |

Reply with quote | #10 | The website for Chesterfield VA now says the show date is October 13, 2007. I have talked to them for many years running. It is a very nice airport for the area. Easy access and a lot of good potential parking areas. Maybe this will be our year to be there.

Reply with quote | #12 | Well please allow me to throw comments in there that I agree with Waldo, but I just really like the airshow seen period. The friendliness and the whole seen at an airshow is like to other. It is the heartbeat of aviation that draws us there, and that is what I love about it.

I wish I had taken the time to call them when Manitowoc first started. I took for granted it was a water show. Bad move on my part. It is one where I would like to perform at in the future. The performers there this year are my kind of people. Walt __________________Walt Pierce

" Waldo, I'm covering the Airshow at Manitowoc for Atlantic Flyer" Stephen, Thank you for the call and I enjoyed our conversation. ATLANTIC FLYER has always been kind to me in past years. The first copy to go out the door at the FBO is usually in my hands. The internet is OK to start communication and the phone is one step better. Best of all of is meeting face to face at a fun place like a rural airshow. All wings are back on "Ol' Smokey" the Stearman so we will be back on the road soon.
